 Before coming to Wales Dr Ilid Anthony was Curator of the Verulanium Roman Museum at St Albans, and had written about the excavations at that site in 1963-4 in Hertfordshire Archaeology. This was also the basis of her first lecture to the Society in 1971. A talk which was entitled "Recent discoveries at Verulamium".

 Having come to Wales she was based at the St Fagan's Museum of Welsh Life and contributed a number of publications on relevant topics such as: - 
-     1971 - Roman London (Young Archaeologist Books)
 -     1972 - Quilting and Patchwork in Wales
 -     1973 - Discovering regional archaeology : Wales 
 -     1975 - Costumes of the Welsh People

Dr Ilid Anthony was appointed to the staff of @StFagans_Museum in February 1970 as Assistant Keeper of the Department of Material Culture. She retired in May 1985
